The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles continue their basketball schedules tonight. The Bucks are 11 and 3 this season and play at Sioux Falls Washington which stands at 4 and 9 this season. The Gazelles have six wins this season and Washington has eight victories so far.
In the South Dakota Media high school basketball poll this week, the Yankton Bucks are in fourth place in Class Double-A behind Lincoln, Brandon Valley and O’Gorman. In the Class B boys basketball poll, Viborg-Hurley has moved up to third in the state. Vermillion has climbed back into fifth place in the Class A girls poll this week.
In the Lewis & Clark Conference girls basketball tournament championship, Ponca defeated Wynot 54-38 last night at the Hartington gym as Kaci Day led the winners with 21 points. Osmond downed Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 81-64 in a battle of state-ranked teams to win the title in Lewis & Clark Conference boys basketball on Monday.
There was a wild G-PAC basketball doubleheader in Jamestown, North Dakota last night. Fourth-ranked Dakota Wesleyan edged Jamestown 98-92 in four overtimes in the women’s basketball contest, and then 18th-ranked Jamestown crushed Dakota Wesleyan 102-63 in the men’s game. Mount Marty continues their season with a twin bill at Dakota Wesleyan Wednesday night in the Corn Palace.
