Yankton Battle of Badges

The third annual Battle of the Badges between the Yankton Police Department and Yankton Fire Department / EMS drew a great crowd to the Cimpl Arena at Mount Marty College on Sunday.

Local Director of Special Olympics Sheri Duke says it was a terrific event and fundraiser for the Yankton Special Olympics athletes and Avera Cancer Institute.

The Special Olympics athletes beat a group of Mount Marty College students in a game to start the festivities yesterday, and they voted for Jeremy McNinch from the Police and Brandon Frick from the Fire Department as the Most Valuable Players.

The Fire Department / EMS won the traveling trophy with a 34-28 victory after the Police Department had won the previous two years.  Yankton City Commissioner Jake Hoffner repeated his title as the Halftime Free-Throw champion among the celebrities.
