The G-PAC baseball and softball pre-season polls were announced Thursday. League newcomer Jamestown is the coaches pick to win the G-PAC baseball title with Mount Marty chosen for seventh place. In the softball poll, Midland is the choice to win the conference and Mount Marty was selected to finish ninth. The Lancer baseball and softball teams both start their competitive schedule on the weekend of February 16th.
The Mount Marty College basketball teams return home tomorrow for a G-PAC doubleheader against Hastings College. The Broncos are rated 21st in the nation in women’s basketball and the men’s squad is 30th. The tipoff is at 2:00 for the women’s game and 4:00 for the men’s contest Saturday at the Cimpl Arena.
The South Dakota State men’s basketball team picked up a 78-66 victory over Denver University last night in Brookings. David Jenkins led the Jacks with 21 points as they shot 53 percent from the field in the win to raise their Summit League record to 3-1 heading into a home game tomorrow with Oral Roberts.
The University of South Dakota Track & Field programs are ranked in the top 15 percent of all Division One schools going into the 2019 season. The Coyote women are rated 36th in the nation and the men are ranked 38th. USD begins their Indoor Track & Field season this weekend at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City.
The Yankton Gazelles basketball squad looks to even up their record tonight with a game at Sioux Falls Roosevelt. The Gazelles have three losses by a total of six points and stand at 3 and 4 overall, while Roosevelt is winless in seven games.
