The USD women’s basketball squad is now 8 and 1 this season after an 85-74 victory at Missouri State last night. Junior Ciara led the Coyotes with 23 points while senior Allison Arens of Crofton chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds.
Colorado University rolled past USD 82-58 in men’s basketball on Tuesday. Junior Tyler Peterson led the Coyotes with 15 points as their record fell to 4 and 4.
In Tennessee last night, the South Dakota State women’s basketball team routed Chattanooga 71-54…and in men’s basketball, Memphis outscored the Jacks 88-80.
USD junior Zack Anderson of Parker has been named the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week. Anderson won the men’s high jump in Brookings last week, tying a school record with a leap of 7 feet, 1 ½ inches.
The Yankton Gazelles gymnastics squad placed third in a home triangular behind Mitchell and Sioux Falls Lincoln last night. Yankton had a 127.3 score as senior Samantha Kortan led the Gazelles with an eighth-place of 32.5 in the All-Around. Yankton will compete in Sioux Falls Thursday against Roosevelt and O’Gorman.
In a wrestling meet Tuesday in Sioux Falls, Yankton whipped Washington 57-21 and the Bucks defeated Lennox 44-31. Tucker Bahm, Cruz Dyer and Owen Warren each won two matches by pin last night for Yankton which will host Vermillion and Dakota Valley in a triangular Thursday at 5 pm.
Wagner senior Faith Tyler and senior Grace Leberman of Parker were named to the Class A all-state volleyball team in South Dakota.
