Following its’ closure in early October, the Johnson Bridge has been re-opened to traffic.
Reported violations of weight limits that were imposed following the discovery of damaged welds on the structure were responsible for the closure.
Chairman Todd Woods says new weight limits for the Johnson Bridge have not been determined.
Woods says the four bridges over the James River within the county system are vital to local agriculture and travel.
No dollar amount for the repair project was given but Woods says under a BIG grant the county is responsible for twenty percent of those costs.
