Human Trafficking

At a presentation Tuesday evening hosted by Southeast CASA the public spotlight was placed on the issue of human trafficking in our communities.

While it sometimes revolves around exploiting people for sex USD Professor Bridget Diamond-Welch says the issue is more complicated than that.

Diamond-Welch says beginning to discuss sex and healthy relationships with school age children is the first step in preventing them from falling victim to sex trafficking.

Welch says statistics show that one in four victims of human trafficking are children.
