There was a lock down in the Yankton Schools this morning and a student has been detained for “Making a Terroristic Threat”.
Yankton Superintendent of Schools Dr. Wayne Kindle says they received news of the threat from the Yankton Police Department.
Kindle says it was determined the threat was against the High School, and he directed that all open campus activities would be suspended and students would remain in the classrooms.
Kindle says a Connect Five message was set to parents noting that the kids were safe, and he says law enforcement did a tremendous job in apprehending a suspect.
Kindle says the School District will continue to investigate this incident, but now it’s up to the States Attorney office and law enforcement to move this case through the legal system.
