KYNT Local Sports for 11-5-18

The Mount Marty men’s basketball team swept two games this weekend in the NAIA Classic at the Sanford Pentagon.  The Lancers rallied from double digits behind in both games to defeat Presentation College 69-64 and Dakota State University by a 78-75 score.  Junior transfer Jason Moore came off the bench to score 19 and 14 points in the Lancer victories.  The Mount Marty men are 2-3 on the season with every game being decided by 8 points or less.

The Mount Marty women’s basketball squad is now unbeaten in three games after defeating Presentation 80-62 and Dakota State 79-71 at the Pentagon.  Junior transfer Jamie Tebben led the Lancers on Saturday with 19 points, and senior Sammy Kasowski topped Mount Marty with 17 points and 11 rebounds yesterday.  Mount Marty will open up their G-PAC schedule Wednesday night at home with a doubleheader against Dordt College.

The Mount Marty men placed ninth and the women were tenth in the G-PAC Cross-Country championships Saturday in Fremont.  Freshman Brian Santiago led the Lancers with a 14th-place finish as he earned All-Conference honors.  Senior Mikayla Prouty took 23rd place to lead the Mount Marty women.

The USD volleyball team went to Omaha Sunday and picked up a 3-0 sweep.  The Coyotes are now 11 and 3 and second place in the Summit League standings.

Indiana State nipped USD 51-48 in triple overtime Saturday in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.  In the loss, Coyote quarterback Austin Simmons passed for 375 yards and three touchdowns as the team set a school record with 39 first downs.  USD has lost four consecutive games and is now 3-6 overall.

South Dakota State racked up 547 yards of total offense in crushing Missouri State 59-7 on Saturday in Brookings.  The seventh-ranked Jacks are now 6-2 overall.
