KYNT Local Sports for 11-17-18

Mount Marty College will host a big day of basketball today at the Cimpl Arena.  This morning, there will be women’s and men’s Alumni games against the Lancer J-V teams.  This afternoon, Mount Marty will face Midland University in a G-PAC doubleheader starting at 2:00.  Our broadcast of Lancer basketball begins at 1:35 on AM 1450, KYNT.

The USD men’s basketball team lost a ten-point lead in the second half as High Point, North Carolina edged the Coyotes 60-56 in the opening game of the Bimini Jam in the Bahamas. Trey Burch-Manning led USD with 20 points and 6 boards as their record fell to 2 and 1 on the season.  The Coyotes next game in the Bahamas is Sunday at 2:30 against Air Force.

The University of South Dakota plays at South Dakota State today in the 114th meeting on the gridiron between the schools.  The Jacks are 7 and 2 and rated fifth in the nation, while the Coyotes are 4 and 6 overall heading into the 2:00 kickoff in Brookings.

The USD volleyball squad starts play in the Summit League post-season tournament tonight.  The Coyotes are seeded second after a 13 and 3 league record and will take on North Dakota State at 7:00 this evening in Denver.

In the Class A state volleyball tournament Friday, top-seed Miller rallied to beat Elk Point-Jefferson 3-1 in the semifinals in Sioux Falls and in the consolation bracket Parker downed Aberdeen Roncalli 3-1.  Today at 10:45, Parker takes on Winner for fifth place and then at 12:30, Elk Point-Jefferson faces McCook Central in the third place match.

In the South Dakota volleyball championships tonight at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, Northwestern meets Warner for the Class B title…then Miller takes on Sioux Falls Christian in the Class A championship…followed by the Class AA title match between Rapid City Stevens and Sioux Falls Washington.
