The Northwestern College teams used great shooting in sweeping a doubleheader over Mount Marty in G-PAC basketball last night in Yankton. The 8th-ranked Northwestern women shot 54 percent from the field as they outscored the Lancers 94-82. Ali Kuca led Mount Marty with 17 points and Karlee McKinney had 13 points and 4 assists. The Red Raiders men hit 67 percent of their shots in a 102-63 win over Mount Marty. Freshman Reilly Devine topped the Lancers with 10 points. Mount Marty hosts a G-PAC doubleheader Saturday against Midland.
Mount Marty had two sophomores receive Honorable Mention all-conference honors in volleyball. Middle hitter Mikaela Ahrendt and outside hitter Elizabeth Watchorn were given honorable mention by the G-PAC, which is sending six teams into the N-A-I-A National Playoffs.
The U-S-D women’s basketball team has a game at Drake University tonight with a 6:00 tipoff in Des Moines. Both teams are unbeaten in two games this season.
The 38th annual South Dakota High School volleyball tournaments begin today with all three classes competing at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. The top seeded teams are Rapid City Stevens, Miller and Northwestern. In the Class A bracket, Elk Point-Jefferson faces Winner at 1:45 this afternoon and at 6:00 tonight Parker takes on Sioux Falls Christian.
