David Owen On 2019 South Dakota Legislative Session

The upcoming 2019 session of the South Dakota Legislature will feature an attempt to expand gambling within the state and a revival of the debate regarding bathroom accommodations for trans-gender school students.

South Dakota Chamber of Commerce President David Owen says the effort to expand sports betting in South Dakota will have an impact on the proposed Port Yankton project.

Owen says with Governor-Elect Kristi Noem taking office, conservative lawmakers will again push the trans-gender bathroom issue.

Owen spoke at Wednesday’s pre-legislative breakfast hosted by the Yankton Area Chamber of Commerce.
