The Yankton High School Athletic Hall of Fame grew by five members last night. There were induction ceremonies for coach Ginger Larsen, along with Yankton athletes Heather Nelson Olson, Chris Johnson, Matt Althoff and Tom Brewer.
The Yankton girls tennis team is now 10 and 9 on the season after an 8-1 victory at Vermillion on Thursday. The Yankton Bucks golf team competes in the Mitchell Invitational today, and the Yankton High School cross-country team will run at the Norfolk Invitational today.
The Yankton freshman football squad picked up their first victory last night with a 26-7 win at Norfolk as Jacob Larson returned an interception and fumble for scores for the Bucks.

In area high school football tonight, fourth-ranked Bon Homme has their homecoming against Lower Brule, third rated Irene-Wakonda plays at Howard, Viborg-Hurley visits Canistota-Freeman, Gayville-Volin travels to Colome, Crofton has a game at Twin River and Hartington Cedar Catholic will host David City.
The Mount Marty volleyball squad was swept at Dakota Wesleyan last night by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-14. Yankton grad Becky Frick had 7 kills and 9 digs for the Tigers, while Elizabeth Watchorn and Mikaela Ahrendt each had 8 kills for Mount Marty. The Lancers are 2 and 8 overall with two matches tomorrow afternoon at York, Nebraska.
The U-S-D volleyball squad is 6 and 3 this season and will face UC-Santa Barbara tonight out in Bakersfield, California. The Coyote women’s soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory at Drake University last night and is now 4-2-2 overall this year.
The U-S-D football team has a contest Saturday at 7 pm at Weber State in Utah, while the S-D-S-U Jackrabbits will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 6 pm in Brookings.
