Two-time defending Class B champion Alexandria whipped Clark 12-1 last night in the second round of the state amateur baseball tournament, and then Flandreau crushed Dimock-Emery 13-2 in the nightcap.  The Class B state tourney continues this evening at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls with quarterfinal matchups as Canova faces Parkston at 5:30 followed by Milbank against Garretson.

The Yankton Bucks golf team has a very busy start to their season next week.  Brett Sime will again coach the Yankton boys and they start their varsity schedule at the Sioux Falls Invite on Monday at Willow Run…then compete on Tuesday at the Brandon Valley Invitational…and then face Washington and Lincoln next Thursday in a triangular at Prairie Green.  The annual Yankton Boys Golf Invitational will be Friday, September 7th at Fox Run Golf Course.

The University of South Dakota football team has announced they will be facing the University of Wisconsin on September 21st of 2024.  The Badgers annually sell out each game in the nearly 80-thousand capacity of Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.  The Coyotes have played an F-B-S school each season since 2010, and this year will visit Kansas State on September 1st to open the season.

South Dakota State has announced four inductees into their Jackrabbit Sports Hall of Fame this fall.  Distance runner Ann Westby Lamer, wrestling All-American Chad Lamer, long jump All-American Tiffani Schleubel Kieffer and men’s basketball standout Jason Sempsrott will each be inducted into the Jackrabbit Hall of Fame on October 6th.
