The Tabor Bluebirds used a 16-hit attack to defeat league-leading Yankton 12-6 last night in South Central League amateur baseball. Austin White led Tabor with two doubles and two singles and four runs scored, while Chase Kortan had three hits and four runs for the Bluebirds. Mitch Gullikson led the Tappers with four hits and three runs scored. Tonight in the South Central League, Tabor plays at Wynot and Lesterville visits Irene.
Sioux Falls East swept Yankton in a Legion baseball doubleheader last night at Riverside Field by scores of 7-2 and 11-5. Yankton Post 12 is now 10 and 18 on the season and will host Brandon Valley Wednesday night at 6 p-m.
In youth baseball on Monday, the Yankton Reds won two games at Mitchell by scores of 9-1 and 12-7. Brookings defeated the Yankton Lakers 24-9 and 9-8.
In Junior Legion tournament baseball on Monday in Pierce, Neligh eliminated Hartington 13-7. Jacob Kaiser led Hartington with two doubles and two RBI’s as their season ended with a 7 and 6 record.
In American Association baseball on Monday, Sioux City edged Chicago 3-2 as Justin Vernia pitched six innings for the Explorers and allowed just one unearned run. Sioux Falls scored the game’s first four runs but Winnipeg rallied to nip the Canaries by a 5-4 score.
