Mitchell repeated as the E-S-D Conference Boys Tennis Champion, with the Yankton Bucks taking fourth place at the meet in Aberdeen. Cole Sawatzke and Gage Becker each took second in their flight for the Bucks while Sam Mooney and Isaac Klimisch both placed third in their flight. Sawatzke teamed with Gerrit Dykstra to finish runner-up at number-three doubles for the Bucks. The team will now prepare for the State Tennis Championships starting Thursday in Rapid City.
The Yankton Gazelles golf squad will compete in the Mitchell Invitational today, while the YHS track and field athletes will go after honors in the E-S-D Conference Meet tomorrow in Pierre.

The Great Plains Athletic Conference announced their Baseball and Softball All-Conference teams on Thursday. Mount Marty senior Caden Skinner and junior Justin Miller were each named Baseball First Team All-Conference players…while Lancer senior Jenn Mitera and junior Amber Writer both were All-Conference selections in softball.
South Dakota State whipped Fort Wayne 8-0 Thursday in the Summit League Softball Tournament as Madison Hope fired a two-hitter for her 20th victory of the season. The second-seed Jacks will now face top-seed North Dakota State this afternoon at the tournament in Fargo.
The University of South Dakota won three titles Thursday on the opening day of the Summit League Championships in Tulsa. U-S-D junior Lara Boman set a meet record in winning the women’s hammer throw, sophomore Helen Falda won the women’s pole vault, and junior Megan Billington took the women’s 10-K race with freshman Laura Nelson of Gayville in second place. Yankton senior Brice Cowman placed fifth in the mens 10-K and the league meet continues today and tomorrow.
