The Mount Marty women’s basketball team sank just one basket in the final 11 minutes and lost at Dordt College by a 72-57 score last night.  Junior Karissa Chamley paced the Lancers with 15 points and 10 rebounds as they stayed winless in the G-PAC heading into a home game Saturday at 2:00 against the College of St. Mary.

The Dordt Defenders broke away from an 18-all tie to lead by 22 at halftime and cruised to a 101-55 victory over Mount Marty in the men’s contest last night.  Senior Marcus Mathieu led the Lancers with 17 points as their overall record dropped to 1 and 8 with a home game Saturday at 4:00 against Oak Hills Christian.

USD scored 22 consecutive points in the second quarter and the Coyote women rolled to an 89-32 win over Bellevue University last night in Vermillion.  USD sophomore Taylor Frederick had a career-best 18 points and 9 rebounds.  The Coyotes are 4 and 3 overall and will play at Stephen F. Austin in Texas Saturday.

The USD men’s basketball squad is 6 and 2 on the season and the Coyotes have a 7:00 game tonight at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

The Class 11-A All-state football team has been announced with state champion Madison and Dell Rapids each having five athletes on the squad.  Vermillion senior Brody Surrell was named All-State after averaging more than 35 yards per punt this season.

The Yankton Bucks wrestling team begins their season tonight.  Riley Smith is coaching the Bucks again and Yankton will host Watertown and Beresford in a triangular tonight starting at 5 p-m at the Summit Activities Center.
